Tatu
(three, triangle, third. - Swahili Dictionary Online 2005)

Tatu, a group of friends comprised of 3 writers, 2 female (Felicia Addison & Joye L. Cooks, both from Oakland, CA) and 1 male (yomí of Philadelphia, PA).

The group of friends has always had a fondness for written word, mostly sharing their individual works between each other, family and friends. As a friendly challenge the group decided to create a story where each writer would write a chapter and the next writer would have to pick up where the former left off, not knowing what twists and turns the story would take. The only rule: keep it real. Before they knew it, they had completed their first book, Indigo Blue.

Upon further discussion between the friends and other works in progress, it came to be that they realized that they were each a missing piece of a puzzle, which was completed by the three. Tatu wanted their books to reflect that same aspect and all writers being conscious of how important family and friends are to the African-American community, decided to call their book series Love Mosaics.

This trio of writers offers open, honest and ‘real’ reactions to situations in our relationships.
3 Writers, 2 Perspectives, 1 Voice.

Felicia Addison, a Customs Broker born in Oakland, CA, was bit by the writing bug at the early age of five. Although this is her first published effort, for years she has written poetry, plays and stories. Felicia currently resides in her hometown of Oakland, CA, creating joint efforts as one third of Tatu as well as completing her individual projects.
Joye L. Cooks, native to Oakland, CA, is a single mother of two wonderful children that are her driving force in life. As a child, Joye found peace in writing poetry, short stories and plays. Joye was instilled the value of reading and books at a young age by her mother that has carried her on to join forces with the other 2 members, that uniquely create the dynamic writing team, Tatu. Insightful, imaginative and passionate, as the hopeless romantic of the trio, Joye has efforts to complete solo projects to include Black Erotica, play writing and more ambitiously, sitcom and movies.
yomí, lives and writes in the Philadelphia area.
